The study, led by An Pan was to make observations and interviews of 12.600 participants with diabetes in the United States.

Pan and his team found that participants liked to eat at least five apples a week reduces the risk of diabetes of about 23% compared to participants who are not accustomed to eating apples. Likewise with those who love to eat blueberries.

Pan says that to get consistent results from three groups of studies that apples and blueberries are very beneficial for type 2 diabetes, although it did not directly prove that apples and blueberries can prevent diabetes

In addition, the team found the apple and blueberries are consumed as a whole is better than the first converted into juice drinks.

According to the American Diabetes Association, approximately 26 million Americans have diabetes. This is caused by the body's inability to produce or use insulin, a hormone that converts blood glucose into energy. And type 2 diabetes can usually be controlled with exercise and dietary changes and without the need to use insulin.
